SparkCognition, an Austin, Texas-based artificial intelligence company, has formed a wholly owned AI subsidiary focused on government and national defense.
SparkCognition Government Systems will deliver AI-based systems to government agencies to help them address national security needs and improve operations through data analysis, application of prescriptive and predictive analytics, autonomy technology deployment and use of natural language processing to facilitate unstructured data processing, SparkCognition said Tuesday.
SparkCognition also announced the appointment of government and national defense leaders John Allen, Lisa Disbrow, Amir Husain, John Richardson and Robert Work to SGS’ board of directors.
Allen is a retired U.S. Marine Corps general and former commander of the NATO International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces – Afghanistan.
Disbrow previously served as undersecretary of the U.S. Air Force and assistant secretary of the Air Force for financial management and comptroller. She also held senior roles at the Joint Staff and the White House.
Husain is founder and CEO SparkCognition. He is the founding CEO of SkyGrid and author of the book "The Sentient Machine: The Coming Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
Richardson is a retired U.S. Navy admiral. He served as the 31st chief of naval operations, commander of the Navy Submarine Force and director of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
Work is former deputy secretary of defense. He previously served as the undersecretary of the Navy and CEO of the Center for a New American Security.
Michele Flournoy, co-founder and managing partner of WestExec Advisors, will serve as a strategic adviser to SGS. She is former undersecretary of defense for policy and currently serves on the board of CNAS.
